Whether you've just started your own business or you've been a business owner for years, marketing yourself and getting your name out there is key in bringing in new customers. One way to do that is to utilize PPC, or Pay-Per-Click, advertising - like Google AdWords.
What is AdWords?
Google AdWords is basically paid advertising. When a potential customer goes to Google to search for something they need, you can pay to have search results for your business and website show up on their search results page. You're probably thinking that that seems easy - and you're right! It is a really fantastic, easy way to promote your business.
However, if you don't go about it correctly, you could end up paying a lot of money for no payoff. Here are three things you need to know before starting a Google AdWords campaign:
1. Choose the right keywords. Your goal is to gain the right audience. By choosing focused keywords relevant to your business, you'll be able to show targeted ads to responsive appropriate audiences!
2. Keep your landing page up to date. Bidding is one of the factors of getting your ad seen - but not the only one. Even if you have the highest bid, Google may still not put you at the top of the search results if your website is out of date. Make sure your ad and landing page have quality content and are up to date. Optimize your chances of being at the top of the search results page! 3. Be aware of your competition. Because you may not be the only business that offers your particular good or service and use a specific search term, you may have to bid against other businesses to get your ad seen over them. If you're willing to pay more than your competitors, your ad will be displayed above your competition.
